Telephony

Acquaint can interface with TAPI (Telephony Application Programming Interface) 2.0 / 2.1 / 2.2 compliant telephone systems.

TAPI Phone Systems

Acquaint will be able to communicate with any phone system that provides TAPI 2.x drivers. Below is a list of phone systems that have been successfully integrated and tested with :

  • Avaya IP Office

  • Panasonic KX-TDA, KE-TDE, KX-NS1000

  • Mitel 250

  • Gamma Horizon

TAPI drivers for other phone systems may be available from 3rd Party suppliers such as Mondago (https://www.mondago.com/).

Initial Configuration

On each PC your telephone engineer should install the TAPI Driver supplied with your telephone system. During the installation of the TAPI Driver you will typically be prompted for the Network IP Address of your Phone System Control Unit and the extension of the Phone linked to the PC you are working on.

Once installed the TAPI Driver can be further configured and viewed within the Windows Control Panel under the Phone and Modem settings.

To link Acquaint to the TAPI Driver, from the File -> Configuration menu in Acquaint click on PC Configuration, select the Settings tab, and then select the installed Telephony TAPI Driver. After selecting please exit and re-run Acquaint.

Once the TAPI Driver is correctly setup the following functionality is available:

  • From the Contact screen, phone icons appear next to the mobile, home, and business telephone numbers fields to initiate an Outgoing Call

  • Incoming Calls will cause Acquaint to perform a Contact lookup based on the Caller ID. This will appear as a Desktop Alert. Clicking on the alert will take you to the Contact's record otherwise it can be closed by clicking on the X. Optionally, the Desktop Alert also has options to create an Appointment, Note or Task against the Contact

  •  A Current Calls screen can be overlay-ed onto Acquaint showing all active phone calls with the name of the Contact, the User taking the call and its current duration

  •  A Call Log screen with reporting functions that provides a full history of all incoming and outgoing calls taken by Date / User / Contact / Type.

From the Call Log you can assign an unknown number to a Contact or create a new Contact. In the Call Log screen click the drop down arrow on the Contact field of an unknown number. On the find screen click the New Contact button
