Contact Types
🧑💼 Contact Types in Acquaint
Contact Types define the role or relationship a person or organization has within your property management workflow. They determine which fields, tabs, and behaviours are applied to each Contact.
📦 Default Contact Types
Acquaint automatically includes the following built-in Types:

Applicant | Looking to buy or rent |
Bank | Financial institutions |
Contractor | Tradespeople or service providers |
Estate Agent | External agents |
Guarantor | Financial backers for Tenants |
Landlord | Property owners |
Local Authority | Council or government bodies |
Managing Agent | Third-party property managers |
Mortgage Provider | Lenders |
Publication | Media contacts |
Solicitor | Legal representatives |
Tenant | Occupants of a property |
User | Internal system users |
Utility Supplier | Gas, electricity, water providers |
Vendor | Selling a property |
🛠️ Creating Custom Contact Types
To add a new Type: File → Configuration → Contacts → Types → New
Each Type includes configurable settings:
Setting | Purpose |
Description | Name of the Contact Type |
Type (Dropdown) | Determines which fields/tabs appear on the Contact screen |
Exclude from Matches | Prevents this Type from appearing in Match & Market |
Home Page Reminder | Displays a count of Contacts of this Type on the Home Page |
Mailing List Reminder | Adds reminders to maintain mailing list accuracy |
Mailing List Renewal Period | Number of days before a Contact needs reconfirmation for mailing |
Auto Status Change Period | Days after which the Contact’s status will change automatically |
Auto Status Change | Target status after the period elapses |
Default Property Category | Sets default category for Property Requirements when adding new Contacts |
Bulk Anonymise | Allows this Type to be anonymised in bulk |
Text Colour / Background Colour | Custom UI styling for easy identification |
Inactive | Retires the Type from active use |
🔄 Automatic Type Changes
Certain Contact Types can be automatically updated based on property events (e.g. offer accepted, sale completed). These rules should be configured with guidance from Bright Logic to avoid unintended data changes.
